General Membership Terms and Conditions

1. Age Policy

As of 1 March 2025, One Motivation Gym & Fitness is open exclusively to individuals aged 18 and over.

Existing memberships held by individuals under 18 will remain valid until their current term expires but will not be renewed thereafter.

 

2. Membership Access and Identification

All members must sign in at reception and present a valid membership card or digital ID on each visit.

Memberships are personal and non-transferable. Allowing another person to use your membership may result in termination without refund.

Lost or damaged membership cards may incur a replacement fee.

 

3. Opening Hours and Facility Access

Members may access the gym only during published opening hours.

All members must vacate the premises promptly at closing time.

Opening hours may be temporarily amended for maintenance, events, or holidays. Notice will be given where possible.

 

4. Membership Activation and Payment

Memberships begin on the date of induction or first visit (whichever is earlier).

Direct debit memberships continue on a rolling monthly basis after the minimum contract term (3, 6, or 12 months).

Payment schedules and details are set out in the member’s direct debit mandate.

Upfront lump-sum memberships are valid only for the agreed term and do not auto-renew.

 

5. Refund and Transfer Policy

All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

This includes advance payments, joining fees, and unused portions of a membership term.

 

6. Payment Failures and Account Arrears

If a payment fails, access to the gym will be suspended immediately until the outstanding balance is settled.

After two consecutive failed payments, the membership may be cancelled at the discretion of management.

Debt recovery procedures may be initiated for unpaid balances

 

7. Equipment Use and Cleanliness

Return all equipment, including free weights, to their designated racks after use.

Wipe down all machines and benches with provided cleaning materials.

Cups, mugs, and glass containers are not permitted in the gym.

Proper gym attire and clean, closed-toe footwear must be worn at all times.

 

8. Conduct and Behaviour

Respect all members, staff, and visitors. Aggressive, abusive, or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated.

Avoid clashing weights, excessive noise, or inappropriate language.

Sharing equipment during peak hours is expected; please limit machine use to reasonable time periods.

The use of mobile phones is permitted only for personal fitness tracking or music (with headphones). Filming others without consent is strictly prohibited.

 

9. Personal Hygiene

Members must maintain good personal hygiene at all times to ensure a comfortable and sanitary environment for everyone.

Use of clean workout clothing, deodorant, and a towel when using equipment or benches is mandatory.

Members are expected to wipe down all equipment after use with the cleaning materials provided.

Members with contagious illnesses, open wounds, or skin infections should refrain from using the gym until fully recovered.

Persistent hygiene issues that cause discomfort to others may result in suspension or termination of membership.

 

10. Substance Use and Intoxication

The possession, use, or influence of drugs, steroids, or alcohol within the facility is strictly prohibited.

Members suspected of being under the influence will be asked to leave and may have their membership terminated.

 

11. Health and Safety

All members must complete a Pre-Exercise Health Questionnaire (PAR-Q) prior to using any equipment.

Members must disclose all medical conditions that could affect exercise safety.

One Motivation and its staff are not medical practitioners and cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions.

Members exercise entirely at their own risk.

Any injuries or accidents must be reported immediately to staff.

 

12. Sauna Use, Safety & Cleanliness

To maintain the safety and hygiene of all members, the following rules apply to the use of the sauna and any other heat facilities:

Supervised Use Only: The sauna must only be used during designated operational hours and under staff supervision. Unauthorized access is strictly prohibited.

Towel Usage: Members must sit on a clean towel at all times when using the sauna to maintain hygiene and prevent damage to the equipment.

Cleanliness: Members must shower before entering the sauna and wipe away excess sweat after use.

Attire: Appropriate light clothing must be worn. Use of gym shoes, outdoor clothing, or personal grooming products (oils, creams, etc.) is not permitted inside the sauna.

Health & Safety:

Do not use the sauna if you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that affects circulation or heat tolerance.

Individuals with heart conditions, high/low blood pressure, respiratory issues, or pregnancy should seek medical advice before use.

The maximum recommended session length is 15–20 minutes at a time.

Maintenance & Equipment Care: Members must not tamper with temperature controls, electrical parts, or ventilation. Any malfunction or damage must be reported immediately to staff.

Hygiene Enforcement: Failure to follow sauna hygiene and safety rules may result in suspension of sauna access or termination of membership.

Sauna Use Disclaimer:
Use of the sauna is entirely at the member’s own risk. Heat exposure may pose health risks for certain individuals. One Motivation Gym & Fitness, its staff, and management accept no liability for illness, injury, dehydration, fainting, or adverse health effects arising from sauna use, except in cases of proven negligence. Members are responsible for using the facility sensibly and in accordance with these safety guidelines.

 

13. Membership Cancellation Policy
a. Fixed-Term Direct Debit Memberships

Cancellations before the end of the contract term are only permitted in the following cases:

Permanent relocation outside of Jersey (official proof required).

Medical incapacity that prevents exercise (doctor’s certificate required).

Approved cancellations require one full month’s paid notice.

Outstanding balances must be settled before cancellation is finalised.

Additional administrative fees may apply depending on when cancellation occurs.

b. Change of Mind Period

Members may cancel within 24 hours of their start date, provided no gym access or induction has occurred.

A full refund will be issued for valid cancellations within this period.

c. Lump-Sum Payment Memberships

Paid-in-full memberships automatically end at the completion of their term (e.g., 3, 6, or 12 months).

One Motivation will contact members near expiry to discuss renewal options.

These memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

d. Rolling Direct Debit (After Minimum Contract)

After the minimum term, memberships continue on a rolling monthly basis.

Cancellation requires one full calendar month’s written notice (e.g., to end by June 30, notify by June 1).

Members must ensure their direct debit is cancelled only after receiving written confirmation of termination.

 

14. Suspension and Termination by Management

One Motivation reserves the right to suspend or terminate any membership without refund if a member:

Fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

Poses a health, safety, or reputational risk to others or the facility.

Engages in any prohibited conduct, including theft, vandalism, or harassment.

Repeatedly breaches gym etiquette or policies after receiving warnings.

 

15. Temporary Closures and Service Disruptions

The gym may close temporarily for maintenance, cleaning, refurbishment, or public holidays.

Notice will be provided in advance where possible.

Temporary closures of up to two weeks per year do not entitle members to refunds or extensions.

 

16. Data Protection and Privacy

Personal information is collected and processed in accordance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

Data is used solely for membership management, billing, and communication purposes.

Members may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data by contacting management.

 

17. Liability Waiver

Members use all facilities and equipment at their own risk.

One Motivation Gym & Fitness is not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings, or for injuries or health issues arising from exercise participation, except in cases of proven negligence by the gym or its staff.

 

18.Acceptance of Terms & Conditions

By entering One Motivation Gym & Fitness—whether as a member, guest, visitor, or trial participant—you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
Failure to comply may result in immediate suspension or termination of access without refund.
